The Rt Rev Horace Norman Vincent Tonks was a Colonial Anglican Bishop〔(National Church Institutions Database of Manuscripts and Archives )〕 in the Windward Islands from 1936〔'' Ecclesiastical News Bishop Of The Windward Islands'' The Times Monday, Jul 06, 1936; pg. 9; Issue 47419; col B〕 until 1949.
He was born in Walsall〔(Pitts Theology Library )〕 on 29 January 1891 and educated at the town's Queen Mary's Grammar School and Lichfield Theological College.〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 Ordained in 1918,〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941〕 after a Curacy in Fenton he was Priest in charge of Holy Cross, Airedale〔(Photo of church )〕 then Vicar of St Sampson with Holy Trinity in York.〔(Saint Silas )〕 After that he was Archdeacon of Grenada for a short time before his elevation to the Episcopate.
